In school I did so much classical theatre, usually playing the most bombastic clowns (Bottom, Feste) and I thought I would continue that into the pro world. Alas, there were old men to cast so, why would they look twice at a character actress in her 20s?
Now, I’ve still been able to chew my share of the scenery (see Kate H’s Pride… and multiple holiday shows, even Taming… allowed for a lot of delicious physical comedy.)
But getting to play Trinculo in The Tempest this past April was joyful – even though everything hurts! I had terrific mates in Stephano and Caliban and the three of us were permitted to just “yes, and” our way through a very truncated rehearsal process. Fast and furious.
Did I mention everything hurt?
